Years of working on the Blocks & Escher album were definitely not wasted. Their debut is one of the most memorable old-school sounding releases that we’ve heard this decade. The sound of ‘Something Blue’ is crystal clear and perfect, as if each break and each pad required hours of editing. But we are more curious about, how much effort was made to put all the pieces together? The sounds on the album flow greatly into each other, making up a unique atmosphere. Thus, it’s impossible to figure out whether you are hearing techstep, jungle or drumfunk, but it really doesn’t matter.
As expected, the LP was released on Metalheadz. Purchase here.
